Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm planning a  visit to Stratford. Will you be open then?

A: We're not a professional theatre. We put on a small number of productions a year, the  dates for which will be listed on this web site.

Q: Can you tell me what's on in the area, or help me get tickets for the RSC?

A: We  don't have the space or resources to be a What's On guide, but you could try one  of the web sites on our Links page. The RSC Box Office phone number is +44 (0) 1789 295623, or try TicketMaster on +44 (0) 207 413 1452. The RSC theatres are usually heavily booked during the summer  months, so it is advisable to arrange tickets well in advance.

Q: I'm bringing a  party of students to Stratford. How can we contact other youth theatre  groups?

A: Try contacting Playbox Theatre on +44 (0) 1926 512388, or Stratford College on +44 (0) 1789 266245.

Q: Is there anywhere a visiting group can perform in Stratford?

A: The Civic Hall has a stage, a large and versatile floor space, a popular bar and is available for hire. They may also be able to help with publicity, tickets and box office. Contact by email or phone +44 (0) 1789 269332.
The  Bancroft Gardens has spaces which you can reserve in advance. The gardens are by  the river in front of the theatre and are popular with visitors. You'll need to  contact Stratford District Council Amenities Dept on +44 (0) 1789 260616 to book space and their Legal Dept on +44 (0) 1789 260224 to obtain a theatres licence.  Both require a fee.

Q: I've  written a play which you might like to perform. Can I send it to you?

A: Much as we would like to encourage new writers, there are a number of directors in the group, with more than enough ideas of plays they want to direct. We put on a limited number of shows each year and the competition is intense. Any play or synopsis, however good, sent in by email is not going to stand a chance.

Q: Can I book tickets for your shows on line?

A: Our web site isn't set up to take bookings.  For most productions, the Civic Hall acts as box office and accepts credit card payments over the phone on +44 (0)1789 414513.

Q: Do you offer concessions and group discounts?

For weekday performances and matinees all tickets are one low price. On Saturday evenings we offer reduced prices for OAPs and unwaged.

We offer concessions for group bookings (10 or more tickets for one performance) and can accomodate school parties at discounted rates.  Please contact our Marketing Manager by
email or on 01789 299221

Q: Do you have facilities for the disabled?

The Civic Hall has excellent access for the disabled. We offer a free ticket to one carer of a disabled person at any performance. We can arrange space for wheelchairs and reserved front row seats for those with sight and hearing difficulties.  Please advise at time of booking and arrive in good time and contact the Front of House Manager.
