Unlike most drama groups, Second Thoughts isn't run by a committee. Of course we have the statutory offices of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, but all policy discussion and decision making takes place at a monthly planning meeting, in which all members can take part.This contributes to the open and supportive ethos of the group, in which every member is valued and encouraged to make the most of their  strengths.

Second Thoughts is made unique by its members and this is what a few of them think of the group.

Is it just about plays?

Not entirely. We have a pretty lively social calendar as well.

There's  nothing quite like working together on a common project to cement lasting friendships. To put on a play requires a great number of people who combine  diverse talents with team spirit and, inevitably, a sense of humour.

Of course we are always looking for new people to act and direct, but we are also keen to hear from people with more general talents.

If you can already turn your hand to one or more of the areas on the list below, or if you are interested in learning from some of our existing members, then we would love to hear from you.

• Organisation and coordination - there’s a lot of that to be done back-stage and off-stage.
• Painting, carpentry and construction for set building.
• Sewing, tailoring, costume history, wigs, hair, makeup.
• Ability to work safely with electronics, lighting and audio equipment.
• Music, composing, arranging.
• We need people to look after the audience and take tickets on performance nights.
• Marketing and Promotion.
• Group Administration.
