Party Pieces
A chance to entertain ourselves for once, Party Pieces takes place each year
in January. Acts range from poems, monologues and sketches to jazz, folk songs and rock. In recent years we've had visits from Blackadder and Baldrick, Victoria Wood, The Blues
Brothers, William Shakespeare, Super Girl, Abba, Queen and the “What Not to Wear” team.
In 2005 Party Pieces took place in the luxurious surroundings of The Shakespeare
Hotel. The compere got cross-booked with a childrens’ entertainer, so all the performers got sweets and a pat on the head.
Pete and Dud turned up, which was nice.

Second Thoughts has a lively social calendar, now undergoing something of a
makeover under the stewardship of Debbie Stead.
Club Night
An ideal first event
for new members, Club Night combines organised activities with less organised drinking. Each session has a theme and is led by a member of the group. All dates are Thursdays and the action starts at 8pm, venue is St Peters Mission in Manor Road, Stratford. 2007 programme TBA.
Games Parties
Every now and then we have a “games party”.. In the winter it is indoors and
involves sophisticated games like charades and hide & seek. In the summer some of the
action is outside, including bowls and putting, which are made more exciting by the uneven nature of the playing surface. Inside is darts, table football and table tennis. Teams of two fight for the victor's laurels and the coveted prizes.
Play Readings and Theatre Trips
Well, we are a drama
group. Readings are a chance to try out plays which have been put forward as proposals for future productions and some which haven't. Also from time to time we organise trips to local professional and amateur productions.
Skittles
Another of those
excuse for a drink events, the annual Skittles Championship is a hard fought battle for both individual and team honours.
Five-A-Side Football
Second Thoughts has a 5-a-side football team, they do play and they don't always
lose everything. There are also rumours of an Over 50s team, but that’s just too frightening to contemplate.

Rambles
A number of members are keen walkers and, from time to time, organise rambles
in the countryside around Stratford. Mid point is a stop at a convenient pub for lunch, just what you need before embarking on the return leg.
Quiz Nights
Always popular, we
often enter teams for local quiz nights, usually to raise money for some good cause. And we usually do quite well.
